SURFACE BURNERS Sealed Burner models See "Sealed Surface Burners" section. SIMMER PLATE (on some models) Do not clean in dishwasher. Cleaning Method: I Liquid detergent and water. Wipe with damp cloth or sponge then rinse with clean water and wipe dry. I Mild-abrasive cleanser Rub in the direction of the grain lines with a damp cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. TROUBLESHOOTING Try the solutions suggested here first in order to avoid the cost of an unnecessary service call. Nothing will operate I Is the power supply cord unplugged? Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet. I Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breaker tripped? Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician. I Is the cooktop properly connected to the gas supply? Contact a service technician or see Installation Instructions. Surface burners will not operate I Is this the first time the surface burners have been used? Turn on any one of the surface burner knobs to release air from the gas lines. I Is the control knob set correctly? Push in knob before turning to a setting. I Are the burner ports clogged? See "Sealed Surface Burners" section. I Is the main gas shutoff valve in the off position? See the Installation Instructions. Surface burner makes popping noises I Is the burner wet? Let it dry. Excessive heat around cookware on cooktop I Is the cookware the proper size? Use cookware about the same size as the surface cooking area, element or surface burner. Cookware should not extend more than ½" (1.3 cm) outside the cooking area. Cooktop cooking results not what expected I Is the proper cookware being used? See "Cookware" section. I Is the control knob set to the proper heat level? See "Cooktop Controls" section. I Is the appliance level? Level the appliance. See the Installation Instructions. Surface burner flames are uneven, yellow and/or noisy I Are the burner ports clogged? See "Sealed Surface Burners" section. I On models with caps, are the burner caps positioned properly? See "Sealed Surface Burners" section. I Is propane gas being used? The appliance may have been converted improperly. Contact a service technician or see "Assistance or Service" section. 12
