6-1 Maintenance The following daily checks and cleaning are required to ensure the best possible performance and utmost safety from the Scanner. Daily checks 1. Any of the following conditions could damage the Scanner or other electrical equipment. Move the Scanner immediately and eliminate the possible cause of malfunction. • The Scanner is placed on the power cord or other cables. • The Scanner is placed on any cord of other electrical devices. 2. If any of the following conditions is found, turn the Scanner off immediately, unplug the power cord from the outlet, and call your authorized dealer. • The power cord or interface cable is damaged. • The insulation of the power cord is damaged and the bare wires are exposed. Cleaning Scanner glass and illumination glass The Scanner may not scan the original correctly if the scanner glass or illumination glass is dirty. Wipe the surfaces with a dry soft cloth to remove dirt. Scanner glass Illumination glass Steel mirror and shading plate The height of the original is not correctly measured if the steel mirror or shading plate is dirty, resulting in a warning message. Wipe the surfaces with a dry soft cloth to remove dirt. Shading plate Steel mirror Maintenance Chapter 6 NOTE Be sure to turn the Scanner off and unplug the power cord before cleaning.

Maintenance
The following daily checks and cleaning are required to ensure the best possible
performance and utmost safety from the Scanner.
Daily checks

Any of the following conditions could damage the Scanner or other electrical equip-
ment. Move the Scanner immediately and eliminate the possible cause of malfunction.
• The Scanner is placed on the power cord or other cables.
• The Scanner is placed on any cord of other electrical devices.

If any of the following conditions is found, turn the Scanner off immediately, unplug
the power cord from the outlet, and call your authorized dealer.
• The power cord or interface cable is damaged.
• The insulation of the power cord is damaged and the bare wires are exposed.
Cleaning
Scanner glass and illumination glass
The Scanner may not scan the original
correctly if the scanner glass or
illumination glass is dirty. Wipe the
surfaces with a dry soft cloth to remove
dirt.
Steel mirror and shading plate
The height of the original is not correctly
measured if the steel mirror or shading
plate is dirty, resulting in a warning
message. Wipe the surfaces with a dry soft
cloth to remove dirt.
NOTE
Be sure to turn the Scanner off and unplug the power cord before cleaning.
