13.2 Cannot receive faxes 13 13.2 Cannot receive faxes When a fax cannot be received, try to correct problems by referring to the table below. For problems such as jamming of originals, paper jams, poor image quality or exhausted toner, refer to the [User's Guide Copy Operations] 13.2.1 Fax (G3) Problem The received fax is blank. Cannot receive faxes Cause Is there a problem with the telephone connection or with the caller's fax machine? Did the caller load the pages backward? Is paper in the machine? Is paper jammed in the machine? Is the machine out of toner? Is the Receive Mode set to Manual RX? Is the telephone line correctly connected? Is the memory insufficient? Is [Closed Network RX] enabled? Is [Closed Network RX Password] ö [Enable] set to [Yes]? Is the fax sent with an incorrect Sub address for the specified F-code? Is there a problem with the recipient's fax machine? Remedy Check that the machine can make clean copies. If it can, have the caller send the fax again. Contact the caller. If the add paper icon is lit, the machine is out of paper and received documents are stored in memory. Add paper. For the procedure for adding paper, refer to the [User's Guide Copy Operations]. In case of a paper jam, received documents are stored in memory. Remove the jammed paper. For the procedure for correcting paper jams, refer to the [User's Guide Copy Operations]. No fax can be received if the toner is exhausted. Replace the toner bottle. For the procedure for replacing the toner bottles, refer to the [User's Guide Copy Operations]. If [Admin Settings] ö [Fax Settings] ö [Comm. Settings] ö [RX Mode] is set to [Manual RX], it is necessary to perform the reception procedure manually. For the procedure for manual reception, refer to the [User's Guide Administrator Operations]. Check the telephone cord for connection and, if unplugged, plug it securely. Load paper if it is empty, and then print the faxes stored in memory. If [Closed Network RX] is enabled, the machine accepts faxes sent from specific recipients. For details, contact your administrator. If [Closed Network RX Password] ö [Enable] is set to [Yes], faxes can only be received from specific senders. For details, contact the administrator. If an incorrect Sub address is received, a communication error occurs and the fax cannot be received. Have the sender check the Sub address on their fax machine.
