Quick Start Scheduling Automatic Device Discovery You can set a schedule for device discovery. 1 In the Device menu, click Discovery > Automatic discovery. 2 In the Scheduled Discovery dialog box, choose from these options: Click Add to create a new discovery mode. In the Add Devices wizard, make your selections in the window to set up a recurring schedule. On the Confirm discovery page, click Finish to save your changes. Click Properties to edit an existing discovery mode. Make your selections in the window to set up a recurring schedule, and click Apply changes. 3 Click Delete to remove a discovery schedule. 4 Click Close to save your changes and close the Scheduled Discovery dialog box. Excluded Devices A device can be excluded from the discovery process. You can remove the device from view for security purposes. You can restore a device to the device list with the Include device option. Excluding a Device from Discovery You can exclude a device from the discovery process. This option removes the device from the device list, and displays it in the Excluded Devices window. Information about the device is not deleted from the application. 1 In any Device view or Accounting devices view, select the device to exclude. 2 Right-click on the selected device, and click Delete device. Including a Device A device that was excluded can be included again. When a device is included, it appears in the next discovery process. 1 In the Device menu, click Discovery > Show excluded devices. 2 In the Excluded Devices list, select an excluded device to include. 3 Click Include device. Host Discovery Discovery is a process that checks networks for host computers. If new hosts are found, the application updates its database with information about the host. This process can be performed manually for single or multiple hosts, or it can be scheduled to run automatically according to a set schedule.
