Appendix A Volume Construction & RAID Configuration • RAID10 Mirroring & striping volumes In relation to the volume configuring techniques RAID1 and RAID0, the Disks are configured 2 at a time by RAID1, followed by the configured set being associated by RAID0 and hence the volume as a whole is configured. With more than 4 Disks present, configuration occurs in pairs. 4 Disks are used to configure the LG Network Storage. If Disk damage does not happen simultaneously to 2 Disks configured through RAID1, the volume will continue to function. The volume save capacity is equal to the product of the minimum Disk capacity and half of the number of Disks in the volume. Data backup and the safeguarding of saving capacity occur simultaneously. (RAID5 prioritizes capacity security, where RAID10 prioritizes data backup). 192

• RAID10 Mirroring & striping volumes

by RAID0 and hence the volume as a whole is configured. With more than 4 Disks
present, configuration occurs in pairs. 4 Disks are used to configure the LG Network
