LaCie 5big Network 2 • DESIGN BY NEIL POULTON User Manual 3.8. About iSCSIShare You can configure a 5big Network 2 share as an iSCSI target client, which allows you to mount a network share as a local share. You can then format this share in a non-network file system such as NTFS, HFS+, or FAT32. The way this works is you can allocate a portion of the 5big Network 2's storage to iSCSIShare. Once you do this, iSCSIShare will be created automatically. To do this, go to Dashboard > Drive Information and click on the number in the Capacity column under the iSCSI drive row. Then, drag the slider to allocate space. Next, format iSCSI share by clicking the Format button to the right of the iSCSI drive row. TECHNICAL NOTE: There is no maximum amount of the 5big Network 2's storage you can allocated to iSCSIShare. Next, you need to install and configure an iSCSI client initiator from Microsoft (Windows users) or other third party vendor. Refer to the vendor's documentation for details. 3.8.1. iSCSIShare: Advanced If you click the Advanced link next to the iSCSIShare section of the Disk Information page, you will have the following options: CHAP: CHAP is a one-way authentication whereby the target authenticates the initiator. Input the username and password. Mutual CHAP: Mutual CHAP is a two-way authentication whereby the target and initiator authenticate each other. Input the initiator name and password. After modifying the above values, click Apply. Accessing & Transferring Files page 29
