Replacing the power switch/LED assembly This procedure describes how to remove and replace the power switch/LED assembly. 1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the cover" on page 93. 2. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing and replacing the front bezel" on page 94 3. Disconnect the power switch/LED assembly cable from the system board. See the system board illustration for your machine type at "System board connectors" on page 92. 4. Note the power switch/LED assembly cable routing and the position of the two LEDs. 5. Remove the switch/LED from the bezel. 6. Route the cable for the new power switch/LED assembly through the hole in the chassis and to the system board. 7. Install the new power switch/LED assembly into the bezel. Make sure that the LEDs are in the correct position. 8. Connect the power switch/LED cable to the system board. 9. Reinstall the front bezel. 10. Go to "Completing the FRU replacement" on page 117. Replacing the CMOS battery This procedure describes how to remove and replace the CMOS battery. If the CMOS battery fails, the date, time, and configuration information (including passwords) are lost. An error message is displayed when you turn on the computer. Important Refer to "Safety notices (multi-lingual translations)" on page 6 for information about replacing and disposing of the battery. CAUTION: When replacing the lithium battery, use only Part Number 33F8354 or an equivalent type battery recommended by the manufacturer. 1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the cover" on page 93. 2. Locate the battery. See the system board illustration for your machine type at "System board connectors" on page 92. 3. Replacing the power switch/LED assembly

This procedure describes how to remove and replace the power switch/LED assembly.

Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the cover” on page 93.

Remove the front bezel. See “Removing and replacing the front bezel” on page 94

Disconnect the power switch/LED assembly cable from the system board. See the system board

illustration for your machine type at “System board connectors” on page 92.

Note the power switch/LED assembly cable routing and the position of the two LEDs.

Remove the switch/LED from the bezel.

Route the cable for the new power switch/LED assembly through the hole in the chassis and to the

system board.

Install the new power switch/LED assembly into the bezel. Make sure that the LEDs are in the correct

position.

Connect the power switch/LED cable to the system board.

Reinstall the front bezel.

10.Go to “Completing the FRU replacement” on page 117.

Replacing the CMOS battery

This procedure describes how to remove and replace the CMOS battery.

If the CMOS battery fails, the date, time, and conﬁguration information (including passwords) are lost. An

error message is displayed when you turn on the computer.

Important

Refer to “Safety notices (multi-lingual translations)” on page 6 for information about replacing and disposing

of the battery.

CAUTION:

When replacing the lithium battery, use only Part Number 33F8354 or an equivalent type battery

recommended by the manufacturer.

Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the cover” on page 93.

Locate the battery. See the system board illustration for your machine type at “System board connectors”

on page 92.

You might have to remove any PCI adapters that impede access to the battery.

Remove the old battery.

Install the new battery.
