Using the locks and the security screw Using the locks and the security screw Attaching the mechanical lock You can attach a mechanical lock to your computer, to help prevent it from being removed without your permission. Attach a mechanical lock to the keyhole of the computer; then secure the chain on the lock to a stationary object. Refer to the instructions shipped with the mechanical lock. Note: You are responsible for evaluating, selecting, and implementing the locking devices and security features. IBM makes no comments, judgments, or warranties about the function, quality, or performance of locking devices and security features. Using the security screw The security screw shipped with your computer can help prevent the hard-disk drive from being removed. To replace the coin screw with the security screw, do as follows: 1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the ac adapter and all cables from the computer. 2. Remove the screw with a coin; then install the security screw, and tighten it with a 2.5-mm allen wrench. 3. Connect the ac adapter; then turn on the computer. Chapter 2. Protecting your computer 13
