Setup menu Menu item Printer Language PCL Emulation PS Emulation Job Waiting On Off Print Area Normal Whole Page Download Target RAM Flash Disk Description Sets the default printer language Notes: • PCL emulation uses a PCL interpreter for processing print jobs. PostScript emulation uses a PS interpreter for processing print jobs. • PCL is the factory default printer language. • Setting a printer language as the default does not prevent a software program from sending print jobs that use another printer language. Specifies that print jobs be removed from the print queue if they require unavailable printer options or custom settings. They are stored in a separate print queue, so other jobs print normally. When the missing information and/or options are obtained, the stored jobs print. Notes: • Off is the factory default setting. • This menu appears only if a non-Read Only printer hard disk is installed. This requirement ensures that stored jobs are not deleted if the printer loses power. Sets the logical and physical printable area Notes: • This menu does not appear if Edge to Edge is enabled in the printer Setup menu. • Normal is the factory default setting. When attempting to print data in the non-printable area defined by the Normal setting, the printer clips the image at the boundary. • The Whole Page setting allows the image to be moved into the non-printable area defined by the Normal setting, but the printer will clip the image at the Normal setting boundary. • The Whole Page setting only affects pages printed using a PCL 5e interpreter. This setting has no effect on pages printed using the PCL XL or PostScript interpreter. Sets the storage location for downloads Notes: • RAM is the factory default setting. • Storing downloads in flash memory or on a printer hard disk places them in permanent storage. Downloads remain in flash memory or on the printer hard disk even when the printer is turned off. • Storing downloads in RAM is temporary. • This menu appears only if a flash and/or disk option is installed.
