On Auto • The On setting buffers jobs on the printer hard disk. • The Auto setting buffers print jobs only if the printer is busy processing data from another input port. • Changing this setting automatically resets the printer. Enables bidirectional communication through the parallel port On Notes: Off • On is the default setting. • The Off setting disables parallel port negotiation. Specifies the parallel port protocol Notes: Standard Fastbytes • Fastbytes is the default setting. It provides compatibility with most existing parallel ports and is the recommended setting. • The Standard setting tries to resolve parallel port communication problems. Determines whether the printer honors printer hardware On initialization requests from the computer Off Notes: • Off is the default setting. • The computer requests initialization by activating the Init signal from the parallel port. Many personal computers activate the Init signal each time the computer is turned on. Determines whether the parallel port data is sampled on the On leading or trailing edge of strobe Off Note: On is the default setting. Sets the printer to process Macintosh binary PostScript print jobs On Notes: • Auto is the default setting. Off Auto • The Off setting filters print jobs using the standard protocol. • The On setting processes raw binary PostScript print jobs. Sets the network address, netmask, and gateway information for None an external print server that is attached to the printer using a USB cable Note: These menu items are only available if the printer is attached to an external print server through the USB port. 38
