Configuring Quality of Service (QoS) Configuring QoS Settings for Specified Applications 6 Bandwidth Allocation QoS With the Bandwidth Allocation option, you can manage QoS by controlling the bandwidth utilization of each Application Layer Gateway (ALG). FTP and NetMeeting appear by default. You can add additional applications requiring ALG. You must enable the ALG to apply the QoS settings. STEP 1 Click QoS > Application-based QoS in the navigation tree. STEP 2 For QoS Type, choose Priority Queue. STEP 3 Enter the following settings: • Bandwidth Allocation Policy: Choose Guaranteed or Spare. - Guaranteed: Choose this option to reserve exactly the specified percentage of bandwidth for the application. - Spare: Choose this option to reserve the specified percentage of bandwidth along with any available bandwidth that is available. • Percentage: Specify the percentage bandwidth utilization from LAN to WAN. • Enable: Check the box to enable the policy, or uncheck the box to disable the policy. STEP 4 Optionally, if you want to configure advanced policies, click User Define. You can configure up to 5 policies. • Specify the source IP address or the destination IP address, the subnet mask, and the protocol. • Specify the port range, the Bandwidth Allocation Policy (Spare or Guaranteed), and the Percentage, as described above. • Optionally, you can mark the DSCP field with specific value to egress packets. The bandwidth utilization could be controlled from LAN to WAN. • Check the Enable box for each policy that you want to enforce. • When you are finished entering the policies, click Save to save the Advanced Settings, or click Close to close the window without saving the settings.
