When the computer is connected to the AC adapter, it can run the most complex business and Internet applications with maximum speed of processor. When the computer is powered by a battery, the processor drops to a lower frequency (such as degrading to 600MHz by changing the bus ratios and voltage), conserving battery life while maintaining a high level of performance. Manual override allows you to boost the frequency back to the high frequency when on battery, so that you can customize the system performance to meet your needs. y Using Intel SpeedStep Technology Since Windows XP has the Intel SpeedStep technology driver built into the system, the processor performance is controlled under the Power Scheme setting in the standard power options (see page 4-7). Your Notebook PC is equipped with an Intel Mobile Processors with
Intel SpeedStep technology, which allows you to customize high
performance computing on your computer.
