non-text entry mode Ä symbol mode tap method This is the standard method for entering text on your phone. Regular Tap method cycles through the letters and numbers of the key you press. The Tap Extended method cycles through letters, numbers, and symbols. 1 Press a key one or more times to select a letter, number, or symbol. 2 Repeat the step above to enter all characters. Tip: Press S right or # to insert a space. In a text entry screen you can press * to switch entry modes. If Tap or Tap Extended is not available as the Primary or Secondary entry mode, see page "set entry modes" on page 22. 24 basics When you enter three or more characters in a row, your phone may guess the rest of the word.
