Configure the TACACS+ settings TACACS+ provides a centralized user management system, while still retaining consistency with RADIUS and other authentication processes. TACACS+ provides the following services: • Authentication. Provides authentication during login and through user names and user-defined passwords. • Authorization. Performed at login. When the authentication session is completed, an authorization session starts using the authenticated user name. The TACACS+ server checks the user privileges. The TACACS+ protocol ensures network security through encrypted protocol exchanges between the device and TACACS+ server. Configure the global TACACS+ settings You can configure the global TACACS+ settings for communication between the switch and a TACACS+ server. To configure the global TACACS+ settings: 1. Connect your computer to the same network as the switch. You can use a WiFi or wired connection to connect your computer to the network, or connect directly to a switch that is off-network using an Ethernet cable. 2. Launch a web browser. 3. In the address field of your web browser, enter the IP address of the switch. If you do not know the IP address of the switch, see Access the switch on-network and connected to the Internet on page 20 or Access the switch off-network on page 32.
