First Steps Inserting the Battery After charging the battery, insert it as described below. 1 Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover 2 Insert the battery The orange battery latch is pushed aside as the battery is inserted. The battery is fully inserted when the latch clicks back into place. Inserting the Battery Inserting the battery upside down or backwards could damage the camera. Check to be sure the battery is in the correct orientation. 3 Close the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover © ባ ©ቢ Batteries Read and follow the warnings and cautions on pages ii-iii and 75 of this manual. The camera can be used with EN-EL5 batteries only; do not, under any circumstances, attempt to use other types. If desired, the optional EH-62A AC adapter kit can be used to power the camera for extended periods ( 72). Do not, under any circumstances, use another make or model of AC adapter. Failure to observe this precaution could result in overheating or in damage to the camera. Removing the Battery Turn the camera off before removing or inserting batteries. To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover and slide the battery latch in the direction shown. The battery can then be removed by hand. Note that the battery may become hot during use; observe due caution when removing the battery. 7

Turn the camera off
