Subject-Tracking AF For subject-tracking AF, we recommend that you choose a focus mode of AF-C and an AF-area mode of [Auto-area AF], [Auto-area AF (people)], or [Auto-area AF (animals)]. Once tracking starts, focus will follow the subject through the frame while the AF-ON button is pressed or the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. To start subject-tracking AF, press J. Position the focus point as desired. Wait until the chosen focus point is over your subject and then either press the shutter-release button halfway or press the AF‑ON button: the focus point will turn yellow and the camera will track the subject until the chosen button is released. Subject tracking can also be started by pressing J or tapping your subject in the display. 44
