Instant messages From the IM online menu, select My settings and one of the following: Screen name-Enter a screen name (also called an alias or a nickname) that is 1-20 characters in length. This name is shown in front of the messages that you send to your contacts. It is also your default screen name when you join a group chat. Automatic login-You can use automatic login after you have logged in at least once to an IM service with your user name and password. When you select I M from the phone main menu and then select the same IM service provider, you are then logged in automatically and do not have to enter your user name and password. Refresh list-from the IM contacts menu to update your contacts' status manually. Network-Modify network connection settings for the IM service. ■ Log off service Exit instant messaging From the IM online menu, you can exit the IM application but still be connected to the IM service. Select Back until the IM online menu appears; then select Exit. If you open IM again, you do not need to log in again. You can then receive instant messages and chat invitations from your contacts when using your phone for other purposes, such as playing a game. If you are connected to your IM service, but you have not used your IM application for some time, you may be automatically disconnected from the IM service. The next time you open the IM application, Not connected is displayed, and you are taken to the offline menu where you have to log in again. Log out of instant messaging To disconnect from the IM service, you must log out from the online menu. You will be taken to the IM service provider list, where you can exit the IM application or select an IM service and log in again. From the IM online menu, select
