Wireless modem setup for Nokia 6590/6590i phone 3 Align the infrared ports of your phone and PC. When a successful infrared connection has been made, the infrared monitor indicates your phone has been found. Windows 2000 installs your Nokia phone as Standard Modem over IR link. Confirm successful installation of your phone via the Phone and Modem Options Control Panel. Use this new device with your data application (example: Dial-up Networking). Updating Windows 2000/XP installation Windows 2000 and XP detect your phone and install it as a Standard Modem over IR Link. However, for optimal performance, you should update the Windows modem software using the file nokia6590.inf, available from the Nokia PC downloads Web site. Please be sure to save this file on a floppy diskette. 8 UPDATE YOUR PHONE'S DEVICE DRIVER: 1 Establish an IR connection between your phone and PC. 2 Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3 Double-click the System icon.
