SmartMedia Optional SmartMedia cards are available to add capacity as needed, in addition to the included 16MB SmartMedia card. When purchasing SmartMedia cards of various memory capacities, specify 3 V (3.3 V) SmartMedia cards (in memory sizes of 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64MB) for the Olympus CAMEDIA digital camera series. Notes • Commercial 5 V SmartMedia cards cannot be used. • This product is compatible with SmartMedia cards that have the copyright protection ID feature, and with SmartMedia cards without the ID feature. (Audio files recorded with this product are not protected by copyright law.) • Never use SmartMedia cards with products that are not compliant with the SSFDC Forum* (including certain models of MP3 players). * The SSFDC Forum is a voluntary organization committed to promoting SmartMedia as a de facto standard in the industry. Audio Recording Format The DS-3000 stores highly compressed DSS (Digital Speech Standard) audio files on SmartMedia cards. Write-protect SmartMedia A write-protect seal (supplied with SmartMedia card) can be attached to a SmartMedia card to guard against accidental recording, erasing, and formatting. Write-protect area Attach the write-protect seal to the write-protect area to prevent valuable data from being erased accidentally. Remove the write-protect seal before recording or erasing. Notes • Attach the write-protect seal to the write-protect area carefully, without letting the seal stick out, lift, or peel. • Do not use commercial seals. • Write-protect seals cannot be reused. • A dirty write-protect seal may disable the write-protect feature. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. • A SmartMedia card with a write-protect seal attached to it may not be write-protected when using the card with other products.
