Using Shooting Functions "Using the Menu" (p. 4) Using the flash The flash functions can be selected to best match the shooting conditions. 1 Lift the flash knob to flip up the built-in flash. After the pre-flashes that reduce the red eye, the flash fires regardless of the available light. The flash fires at a slow shutter speed immediately after the shutter is opened (first curtain sync). Both the subject in the foreground and the night scene in the background are captured. The flash does not fire.
