Using Shooting Functions "Using the Menu" (p. 4) Using the flash The flash functions can be selected to best match the shooting conditions. 1 Lift the flash knob to flip up the built-in flash. Flash knob The flash settings cannot be adjusted with the flash closed. To turn off the flash Press the flash down back into the camera. Option FLASH AUTO REDEYE FILL IN RED-EYE + FILL-IN SLOW FLASH OFF Description The flash fires automatically in low-light or backlight conditions. Pre-flashes are emitted to reduce the occurrence of red eye in your photos. The flash fires regardless of the available light. After the pre-flashes that reduce the red eye, the flash fires regardless of the available light. The flash fires at a slow shutter speed immediately after the shutter is opened (first curtain sync). Both the subject in the foreground and the night scene in the background are captured. The flash does not fire. Shooting closeups (Macro shooting) This function enables the camera to focus and shoot subjects at close distances. 1 Select the macro option in the shooting function menu.
