Connecting antennas Connecting the supplied FM and AM indoor antennas ANTENNA AM FM 75 ANTENNA FRONT SPEAKERS B RL FRONT SPEAKERS A RL CENTER SPEAKER SURROUND SPEAKERS RL AC OUTLET USA, Canada, Mexico 1 Strip away the insulation from the end of the cord. 2 Fully insert the stripped end of the cord. AM FM 75 ANTENNA Adjusting the position of the FM indoor antenna The FM indoor antenna is for indoor use only. During use, extend the antenna and move it in various directions until the clearest signal is received. Fix it with push pins or similar implements in the position that will cause the least amount of distortion. If the reception is not very clear with the attached FM indoor antenna, the use of an outdoor antenna is recommended. Rotate the outer frame of the antenna. Insert into the hole. Extend the antenna cord. AM indoor antenna Press and hold up the lever. Insert the end of the cord. Release the lever to secure the connection. AM FM 75 ANTENNA Note Insert one end of the AM antenna cord to either of the AM antenna connectors and the other end to the other connector. There is no difference between one end of the AM antenna cord and the other end, unlike the speaker cables which have positive and negative poles. Adjusting the position of the AM indoor antenna The AM loop antenna is for indoor use only. Set it in the direction and position where you receive signals clearly. Put it as far away as possible from the HT-R8230, televisions, speaker cables, and power cords. When reception is not satisfactory with the attached AM loop antenna alone, connection of an outdoor antenna is recommended. 14
