English English Troubleshooting If You Suspect Something Wrong Check and take steps as described in the tables below. If the suggestions below do not solve the problems, it is recommended to take the unit to your nearest authorized Panasonic Servicenter. The product should be serviced only by qualified personnel. Please refer checking and repair to professionals. Panasonic shall not be liable for any accidents arising out of neglect of checking the unit or 21 your own repair after your checking. ■ Common Warnings: ¡Do not use the unit in an irregular condition, for example, no sound, or if it is emitting smoke or foul smell, as this may cause electric shock. Immediately stop using it and call the store where you purchased it. ¡Never try to repair the unit by yourself due to risk of electrical injury and potential damage to electrical safety equipment. Problem Possible cause a Possible solution No power No sound Only sound, no picture. Noise Picture is not clear. Car's ignition switch is not on. aTurn your car's ignition switch to ACC or ON. Cables are not correctly connected. aConnect cables correctly. Battery cable is not correctly connected. aConnect the battery cable to the terminal that is always live. Accessory cable is not correctly connected. aConnect the accessory cable to your car's ACC source. Grounding wire is not correctly connected. aConnect the grounding wire to a metal part of your car. Fuse is burnt. aCall the store where you purchased the unit, or your nearest Panasonic Servicenter and ask for fuse replacement. The volume is adjusted to zero. (Control unit) aRaise the volume. Mute is set to ON. (Control unit) aSet it to OFF. Cables are not correctly connected. aConnect cables correctly. Condensation (dew) aWait for a while before use. Parking brake (side brake) lead is not correctly connected. aConnect the side brake connection lead correctly. You did not pull the parking brake (side brake) lever. aPull the parking brake (side brake) lever. A mobile phone is used near the unit. aKeep the mobile phone away from the unit. The unit's grounding wire is not connected securely. aCheck the metal areas of the car chassis (body), and connect the ground- ing wire more securely. ■ DVD, VCD (Video CD), CD, CD-R, CD-RW The disc is inside but no sound. CD sound skips, tone quality is low. The disc is upside down. aPlace the disc in the correct direction, the label side up. The disc is dirty. aClean the disc, referring to the section on "Notes on Discs" (a page 31). The unit can only play the following types of discs: DVD, VCD (Video CD) and music CD. 22 The disc is dirty. aClean the disc, referring to the section on "Notes on Discs" (a page 31). Sound skip due to vibration. Unstable mounting. aMount the unit securely with the mounting parts, referring to the section on installation. The buttons do not work. The magazine is not ejected. Some operations are not permitted with certain discs. (Refer to the guide provided with your disc.) ¡Disc is defective. ¡Mechanical trouble. aPress [u]. If failure persists, press the reset switch (a page 53). If nor- mal operation is not restored, call the store where you purchased the unit or the nearest Panasonic Servicenter. ■ DVD Cannot switch the audio language/subtitle language/angle. The audio/subtitle language selected in the DVD settings is not used. ¡It is not possible to switch if the disc does not have multiple audio languages/subtitle languages/angles recorded on it. (Refer to the guide provided with your disc.) ¡Some discs permit switching through a menu screen. ¡Sometimes, switching angles is possible only with certain scenes. If audio or subtitles in the languages are not recorded on the disc, the audio or subtitles do not switch to that language. (Some discs permit switching through a menu screen.
