BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE WARNING Electrical Shock or Personal Injury Hazard Disconnect the electrical supply before servicing or cleaning the vacuum cleaner. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or personal injury from vacuum cleaner suddenly starting. Review this chart to find do-it-yourself solutions for minor performance problems. Any service needed, other than those described in these Operating Instructions, should be performed by an authorized service representative. PROBLEM Vacuum cleaner will not run. POSSIBLE CAUSE 1. Unplugged at wall outlet. 2. ON-OFF switch not turned on. 3. Thermal protector tripped. 4. Tripped circuit breaker/blown fuse at household service panel. 5. Defective wall outlet. POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1. Plug in firmly. 2. Push on/off switch to on. 3. Allow to cool 50 minutes and thermal protector will reset itself. 4. Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse. 5. Check with a good appliance or lamp. Have outlet properly serviced. Poor job of dirt pickup. 1. Dust cover improperly installed. 2. Clogged hose or nozzle. 3. Hose not inserted fully. 4. Full or clogged dust bag. 5. Dirty filters. 6. Broken belt. 7. Belt not installed on motor shaft. 8. Worn agitator. 9. Hole in hose. 1. Properly install dust cover. 2. Clean hose or nozzle area. 3. Insert hose. 4. Replace dust bag. 5. Clean or replace secondary filter and/or replace exhaust filter. 6. Replace belt. 7. Install belt on motor shaft. 8. Replace agitator. 9. Replace hose. Dust escapes the dust bag. 1. Bag improperly installed. 2. Bag torn. 1. Properly install bag. 2. Replace bag. Agitator does not turn. 1. Carpet/Bare floor selector in BARE FLOOR position. 2. Broken belt. 3. Tripped overload protector in nozzle. 4. Handle in full upright position. 1. Select CARPET position. 2. Replace belt. 3. Remove any items that may be caught or jammed, then reset. If vacuum cleaner starts and stops again, clean agitator and end caps, then reset. 4. Move handle from upright position. Airflow restricted with attachment use -or- sound changes. 1.
