Battery removal Press the d side toward the e battery terminal and lift up. AC power operation RQ-L51 Use the included AC adaptor/charger. RQ-L31 RQ-L11 Use the Panasonic AC adaptor RP-AC31 (optional). ≥The AC adaptor/charger consumes approx. 1.3 W even when it is in standby mode. To save power when not in use, disconnect it from the AC power outlet. AC 120 V, 60 Hz DC IN 3V Rechargeable batteries RQ-L51 For initial use after purchase or after a long interval (more than three months), make sure to recharge the rechargeable batteries. PAUSE 2 SELECT REC MODE. Choose the same mode you used for recording. 3X 1X RQ-L51 RQ-L31 3 PRESS [PLAY]. PLAY 4 ADJUST THE [VOLUME]. After recharging (about 2 hours), install the charged batteries into the unit. Note: Do not recharge more than 8 hours at one time, or the rechargeable batteries life may be shortened. Rechargeable batteries and charger ≥Use only the included charger when recharging. ≥During recharging, it is normal for the charger and the rechargeable batteries to become slightly warm. ≥Avoid recharging or placing the rechargeable batteries near sources of heat or humidity. ≥The included rechargeable batteries can be recharged about 300 times. After that, their operation time becomes shortened. That's time for replacing the rechargeable batteries. ≥Carry and store the rechargeable batteries in the supplied battery carrying case to prevent contact with metal objects. ≥Do not peel off the plastic covering on the rechargeable batteries. This covering has been fitted for your safety and removal can lead to short-circuiting of the battery. 2SELECT MIC LEVEL. 1 1 NORM HIGH .*$-&7&- Select HIGH if you want to record relatively soft sounds. RQ-L51 RQ-L31 3 SELECT REC MODE. 3X 1X RQ-L51 1X: To record sound at a normal speed. 3X: To record sound at three times longer than the normal RQ-L31 speed for long meetings, etc. 4 SET [VAS] TO OFF. VAS 2 1 OFF RQ-L51 RQ-L31 5 PRESS [£]. £ VOLUME BATTERY CONDITION E BATT LEVEL ɹF Empty Full Basic Operation Recording You can use normal position type tapes only. The sound may not be recorded properly if high position tapes and metal position tapes are used with this unit. [PLAY] is also depressed with [£] in step 5. Function Operation Stop Press [STOP]. Temporarily stop Set the [PAUSE] selector to "PAUSE". To resume recording, set it to off position. ∫ Follow up recording Recording can be started during playback by simply pressing [£]. Tape playback You can use normal position type tapes only. Function Stop Fast forward Rewind Operation Press [STOP]. Press [FF/CUE]. Press [REW/REV]. When the tape reaches the end after fast forward or rewind, press [STOP] to release the button. Others ∫ Tape counter and reset button RQ-L51 RQ-L31 The counter returns to "000" when the reset button is pressed. The digits advance with the tape to provide a reference to quickly find a desired portion of tape. Note: When you are resetting the tape counter, make sure that you push the reset button firmly and that the counter resets precisely to "000". ∫ Auto Stop During playback or recording, when the tape reaches its end, the automatic stop system will release the playback and record buttons and automatically turn off the unit. Note: ¡Do not open the cassette holder during tape op- eration.
