This camera is provided with waterproof performance and dustproof performance functions in compliance with JIS Class 8 waterproof performance and Class 5 dustproof performance (equivalent to IP 58), and as well as being continuously usable underwater for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5 m, it can also be used in places where it can easily become dirty. Do not under any circumstances open the cover in such places. •When removing the battery or card, avoid surroundings where the camera may be exposed to water or dirt, and make sure the camera, battery, card, and your hands are completely dry. Be sure that formatting will delete all the data stored in the SD Memory Card. For how to format an SD Memory Card,refer to the Operating Manual (p.159).
