Manual: set locus mode switch to [ MF • Depress shutter release button halfway down • Turn the focusing ring till the in-focus indicator [ 0] lights up in the viewfinder BUILT-IN FLASH (RTF) * In dark and backlit situations,the [ $ ] symbol blinks in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel to recommend the use of flash * The built-in flash can be activated by depressing the flash pop-up button Daylight-Sync Flash: to decrease the contrast Slow-Speed-Sync: to freeze action in low-light conditions Red-Eye Reduction Flash Function: to reduce the red-eye phenomenon 1. Press the flash pop-up button until all the indications other than [ $ ] disappear 2. Turn the Select Dial until [ ] appears on the LCD panel. POWER ZOOM FUNCTIONS • Push the power zoom ring forward to POWER ZOOM • Set the Auto Zoom Switch on the lens to 'A'(Auto) • While holding the Auto Zoom Switch toward [AS], turn the Select Dial until one of the Power Zoom functions blinks on the LCD panel Zoom Clip Mode [ Ili ]: Memorises a local length, to store a desired picture area 1. Select the Zoom Clip Mode (LCD indicator [ starts blinking) 2. Zoom to the required focal length and press the Zoom Set button on the lens ( LCD indicator I stops blinking ) 3. Depress the Zoom Set Button to move to the memorised focal length. Image Size Tracking Mode [ E7r ]: Memorises image magnification to keep the subject the same size in the viewfinder 1. Select the Image Size Tracking Mode 2. Zoom to the desired setting 3. Depress the Zoom Set Button to enter the image size 4. Press the shutter halfway down and the camera will automatically zoom to capture the subject at the preset image size. Zoom Effect [ I] ]: The lens zooms automatically from wide to tele (or from tele to wide) during an exposure. 1. Select the Zoom Effect Mode 2. Set the zoom in a wide-angle position 3. Depress the shutter release button and the lens will zoom during the exposure accordingly. PICTURE MODE • Set aperture ring to 'A'(Auto) while holding the aperture A lock button down. * Move the Main Switch to [PICT] * Turn the select Dial while holding down the Mode Button to set one of the following modes: * [ ] = Green Operation Mode : fully automated shooting • [ al ] = Portrait Program Mode : tete: crisp focus of subject wide: deeper depth-of-field [ ] = Landscape Program Mode: ensures maximum dept-of-field • [ ] = Action Program Mode : faster shutter speeds. • [ ] = Close-up Program Mode : gives smaller apertures to maximize the depth-of-field * The in-focus range (depth-of-field) and the extent of image blur (shutter speed) can be changed with the Select Dial in the different modes ( except the Green Operation Mode) DRIVE MODE • Turn the Select Dial while depressing the Drive Button to select one of the 3 drive modes: • [ o ]= Single-frame drive • [ tj ] = Continuous drive • [ CS) ] = Self-timer (12 sec. delay)
