09 Additional Materials Troubleshooting Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think there is something wrong with this component, check the points below. Sometimes the trouble may originate from another component. Thus, also check the other electrical appliances also in use. If the trouble cannot be rectified even after checking the following items, contact your dealer or nearest PIONEER service center. Disc playback related Symptom Cause/Remedy Can't play disc. [Please disable External Sync setting] appears in display and the CD/VCD disc is ejected. [TV System selector error. External sync type mismatch] appears in display and the disc is ejected. CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW discs that have not been finalized cannot be played. DVD-R discs compliant with CPRM cannot be played. SECAM system discs cannot be played. Some CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW discs may not be playable if recording quality is poor. Non-DVD discs cannot be played if the external sync function is set to ON. Go to the ADV. SETUP menu and confirm that [EXTERNAL SYNC] is set to [OFF]. The TV mode (NTSC/PAL) you are trying to apply external sync to does not agree with the mode of the DVD you are trying to play. Go to the ADV. SETUP menu and set [EXTERNAL SYNC] to [OFF], or adjust the proper TV mode. DVI related Symptom Playback disc images cannot be displayed as DVI. When DVI resolution is changed, images are disturbed or do not display. Noise occurs in DVI output images. Cause/Remedy Copyright-protected discs cannot be played on DVI displays that do not support HDCP. Your DVI display may not support the display resolution you have set. Consult the operation instructions for your display. Holding the remote control unit's [0] number button depressed for 5 or more seconds will reset the resolution to the value initially set when the display was first connected to the player. Also, depending on the display, inputting a signal of non-supported resolution may cause the unit to stop responding until the display's power is disconnected and reconnected. Using an excessively long cable may result in the generation of noise; in this event, change to a shorter cable. USB memory device related Symptom Cause/Remedy [NO USB MEMORY] is displayed when performing load/save with USB memory device. [Unsupported memory device] appears in the display when connecting a USB memory device. When saving to USB memory device, screen displays [NO ENTRY AREA] or [NO CAPACITY]. No file displayed when loading from a USB memory device. File names are distorted/unreadable when loading from USB memory. Error occurs when performing load or save from/ to USB memory. USB memory device is not detected properly. Reinsert USB memory device and try again. This memory device is not supported by the DVD-V8000. In general, commercially marketed USB memory devices are manufactured to common specifications and can be used with the DVD-V8000, but operating compatibility has not been confirmed for all devices available on the market, with the result that it is possible some such devices may not be compatible with the DVD-V8000. USB memory device is full; no more files can be written. Use computer to delete unnecessary files. File extension may be mistaken. Files that can be displayed include LOAD SETUP files (extension "set") and LOAD COMMAND STACK files (extension "cmd"). Were two-byte characters used in the file name? Two-byte characters cannot be displayed. Is write-prevent enabled for the USB memory device? Try reinserting the USB memory device and try again. If error reoccurs, use the computer to reformat the memory using FAT file system. 94
