11 Other connections Caution • Make sure you use a parallel (not series, which are fairly uncommon) connection when bi-wiring your speakers. • Don't connect different speakers from the same terminal in this way. Connecting additional amplifiers This receiver has more than enough power for any home use, but it's possible to add additional amplifiers to every channel of your system using the pre-outs. Make the connections shown below to add amplifiers to power your speakers.1 • Before making or changing the connections, switch off the power and disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet. In this case plug the amplifier into the left (L (Single)) terminal only. • The sound you hear from the surround back terminals depends on the Surround back speaker setting on page 43. • To hear sound only from the pre-outs, simply disconnect any speakers that are connected directly to the receiver. • If you're not using a subwoofer, change the front speaker setting (see Speaker setting on page 48) to large. 2 This receiver is compatible with all Pioneer plasma displays from 2003 onward. 64 En
