TROUBLESHOOTING CHART PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Loss of power • Cutting too much grass/too fast. • Throttle in "CHOKE" position. • Build-up of grass, leaves and trash under mower. • Dirty air filter. • Low oil level/dirty oil. • Faulty spark plug. • Dirty fuel filter. • Stale or dirty fuel. • Water in fuel. • Spark plug wire loose. • Dirty engine air screen/fins. • Dirty/clogged muffler. • Loose or damaged wiring. • Carburetor out of adjustment. • Engine valves out of adjustment. • Set in "Higher Cut" position/ reduce speed. • Adjust throttle control. • Clean underside of mower housing. • Clean/replace air filter. • Check oil level/change oil. • Clean and regap or change spark plug. • Replace fuel filter. • Drain fuel tank and refill with fresh gasoline. • Drain fuel tank and carbure- tor, refill tank with fresh gasoline and replace fuel filter. • Connect and tighten spark plug wire. • Clean engine air screen/fins. • Clean/replace muffler. • Check all wiring. • See "To Adjust Carburetor" in Service Adjustments section. • Contact an authorized service center/department. Excessive vibration • Worn, bent or loose blade. • Bent blade mandrel. • Loose/damaged part(s). • Replace blade. Tighten blade bolt. • Replace blade mandrel. • Tighten loose part(s). Replace damaged parts. Engine continues • Faulty operator-safety to run presence control system. when operator leaves seat with with attachment clutch engaged • Check wiring, switches and connections. If not corrected, contact an authorized service center/department. Poor cut - uneven • Worn, bent or loose blade. • Mower deck not level. • Buildup of grass, leaves, and trash under mower. • Bent blade mandrel. • Clogged mower deck vent holes from buildup of grass, leaves, and trash around mandrels. • Replace blade. Tighten blade bolt. • Level mower deck. • Clean underside of mower housing. • Replace blade mandrel. • Clean around mandrels to open vent holes. 27
