For the longest battery life, we recommend RadioShack alkaline batteries. Follow these steps to install the listener's batteries. Cautions: • Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type. • Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of different capacities. 1. Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow, and remove the cover. When the level weakens or distorts or the listener stops operating properly, replace both batteries. Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them. Caution: If you do not plan to use the listener for a week or more, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts. OPERATION Follow these steps to operate the listener. 1. Rotate VOLUME all the way to the right to insure the volume is turned all the way down. 2. Install the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the compartment. 2. Slide all ranges of the equalizer to the (-) position. 3. Slide OFF/ON to ON. 4. Plug the headphones (not supplied) into the PHONES jack and put them on. 3. Replace the compartment cover. 2
