Lighting the water heater. Locate the piezo-electric spark generator which is located on top of the combination gas control. 12. Set the thermostat dial to desired setting by turning dial counter-clockwise. The preferred starting point for temperature setting is to align the thermostat 7. Turn the gas control knob counter- clockwise to the "PILOT" position. PILOT ASSEMBLY dial pointer ( ) with the "HOT" mark ( ▲ ) on the front face of the control. TO TURN GAS OFF TO THE APPLIANCE 1. Set the thermostat dial to the lowest setting by turning the thermostat dial clockwise until it stops. DO NOT FORCE. 2. Slightly depress the gas control knob and turn clockwise to "OFF POSITION".
