05 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM Food does not broil properly. The oven temperature is too hot or too cold. Scratches or abrasions on cooktop surface Brown streaks or specks Areas of discoloration with metallic sheen The oven will not self-clean. "Crackling" or "popping" sound Excessive smoking during a selfcleaning cycle The oven door will not open after a self-cleaning cycle. POSSIBLE CAUSE The oven controls have been set incorrectly. SOLUTION • Press the BROIL pad. The rack has not been properly positioned. Cookware not suited for broiling. • See the broiling guide on page 25. • Use suitable cookware. Make sure bottoms of cookware are clean before use, and use cookware with smooth bottoms. Cookware has been slid across the cooktop surface.
