Troubleshooting Problem Brown streaks or specks. Areas of discoloration with metallic sheen. "Cracking" or "popping" sound. Possible cause Boilovers have been cooked onto the surface. Mineral deposits from water and food have been left on the surface of the cooktop. This is the sound of the metal heating and cooling during both the cooking and selfcleaning functions. Solution • Wait until the surface cools down. Then, use a single-edge razor-blade scraper at approximately a 45° angle against the glass surface to remove the soil. • See the section on the care and cleaning of the glass cooktop on page 39. • Remove using a ceramicglass cooktop cleaning cream. • Use cookware with clean, dry bottoms. Clean the cooktop with a ceramic cleaning agent regularly every week. This is normal operation, and not a system failure. Use the range as usual. OVEN Problem The oven will not turn on. The oven light will not turn on. The appliance will not turn on. Possible cause The range is not completely plugged into the electrical outlet. A fuse in your home may be blown or the circuit breaker tripped. The oven controls have been set improperly. The oven is too hot. Incomplete service wiring. Power outage.
