Bosch toughens up its IP-surveillance product strategy with the EE25 Series™ The Bosch Group is a leading global manufacturer of automotive, industrial and security technologies as well as consumer goods. Surveillance systems are a growing part of its diverse security portfolio, which includes fire security solutions, home alarms, security management and communication systems. Bosch is leading in the emerging field of IP surveillance with its new VideoJet X family of video encoders, including the VideoJet X10 (single-channel), X20 (2-channel) and X40 (4-channel). These cutting-edge devices combine high quality video, search intelligence and extreme ruggedness - extending CCTV over IP and into the most challenging physical environments. The EE25: ready for anything. "Our ruggedised VideoJet X family of video encoders are designed for harsh environments with a temperature range that could be anything from -30°C to +60°C. They also need to withstand the kind of extreme vibration found in military environments and record tens of GBs of digital footage at a time.'' explained Konrad Simon, the product manager of IP network video for Bosch. "There are very few suppliers that make the kind of robust hard drive required for this product range." Simon continued. "Besides being able to withstand extreme temperatures and vibration levels, the hard disk drive needs to be able to do 100% duty cycles on write. We evaluated a number of HDD specs and test reports and did a range of internal tests too." Bosch is targeting this robust product family at a diverse range of markets and applications, from devices that operate in harsh industrial environments, to heavy traffic conditions, urban city centres and mobile surveillance on trucks and trains. That's why it needed a hard drive inside that could take whatever was thrown at it: the supertough EE25 hard drive series from Seagate. The robust Seagate EE25 Series was the clear winner - engineered to operate at temperatures from -30°C up to a searing +85°C, with-standing 2Gs operating vibration and still going strong at altitudes of 5000 metres. "Only Seagate's EE25 hard drives met all of our technical requirements and proved to " be truly excellent quality.
