1.0 Introduction This manual describes the functional, mechanical and interface specifications for the following Seagate SV35.5TM Series model drive: ST31000525SV ST3500410SV ST3250311SV These drives provide the following key features: • Designed with low spin-up power for optimization in surveillance applications • Uncompromising reliability supports flexible surveillance design, with case temperatures up to 70º C • Performance-tuned for seamless video applications • Built-in error recovery for non-stop video streaming • Best-in-class acoustic performance means virtually silent operation • Higher areal density for cost-effective surveillance applications • Enterprise-class reliability for 24x7 video surveillance applications • ATA-7 streaming commands allow for data reads and writes tailored to video, data or a combination of both, guaranteeing smooth, reliable video streaming as well as high-integrity database updates. • Enhanced caching capabilities enable superior video recording quality. • Unique user-selectable partitioning capability • Easy-to-use Smart Command Transport (SCT) makes management simple • Thermal monitoring and reporting for 24x7 operations • High instantaneous (burst) data-transfer rates (up to 300 Mbytes per second). • Perpendicular recording heads and EPRML technology, for increased areal density. • State-of-the-art cache and on-the-fly error-correction algorithms. • Native Command Queueing with command ordering to increase performance in demanding applications. • Full-track multiple-sector transfer capability without local processor intervention. • Quiet operation. • SeaTools diagnostic software performs a drive self-test that eliminates unnecessary drive returns. • Support for S.M.A.R.T. drive monitoring and reporting. • Supports latching SATA cables and connectors. • Worldwide Name (WWN) capability uniquely identifies the drive.
