BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE Please check the following before calling for service. It may save you time and expense. PROBLEM 1 Part or all of Cooktop+Microwave Drawer does not operate. POSSIBLE CAUSE • Power outage. • Fuse/circuit breaker at home doesn't work. • Microwave Drawer is in Demo Mode. 2 Surface units do not heat. • No power to the appliance. • Surface controls improperly set. 3 Surface units too hot or not hot enough. 4 Surface unit stops glowing. • Improper cookware being used. • It is normal when turned to a lower setting. SOLUTION • Check house lights to be sure. Call your local electric company for service. • Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. • See page 28 for how to cancel Demo Mode. • See SOLUTION for PROBLEM 1. • Check if the controls have been properly set. See page 13. • Use pans which are flat and match the diameter of the surface unit selected. 5 Scratches on glass ceramic cooktop. • Incorrect cleaning methods were used. • Cookware with rough bottom has been used. • Use the recommended cleaning procedure. See pages 29-30. • Use smooth, flat-bottomed cookware. 6 Areas of discoloration on the cooktop. 7 Metal marks on cooktop. • Food spillovers not cleaned before next use. • Sliding or scraping of metal pans on top. 8 Brown streaks or specks on cooktop glass surface. 9 Food in Microwave Drawer is not heated. 10 Microwave Drawer light does not work. 11 Touch controls will not operate. 12 Strong odor or light smoke when Cooktop is turned on. 13 Display intermittently shows Video Demo and Set Clock. 14 Steam from the vent. • Boilovers are cooked onto surface. • No power to the appliance. • Microwave Drawer controls improperly set. • Microwave Drawer is in Demo Mode. • Light bulb is loose or burned out. • Control Lock is on. • This is normal for a new Cooktop. • Power failure. • When using the microwave feature, it is normal to see steam from the food coming out of the vent. • Use the recommended cleaning procedure. See pages 29-30. • Do not slide metal pans. When cool, clean with cooktop cleaning cream to remove the marks. • Use the recommended cleaning procedure. See pages 29-30. • See SOLUTION for PROBLEM 1. • Check if the controls have been properly set. See pages 16-17. • See page 28. • Call for service. • See page 27 to unlock. • It will disappear after a few uses. Ventilate the room to remove odors more quickly. • Touch Set Clock pad on the display and follow the directions. If the oven was in use, you must reset the cooking function. 31
