Using the Oxford-Hachette French-English Dictionary In this dictionary, English translations or equivalents of French words can be found by entering their spellings. Phrase search is also available for French words. Looking up a word by Filter search A translation of a French word can be looked up by inputting its spelling. Find the translation of 'avance'. 1. Press t to open the Oxford- Hachette French-English Dictionary. The input screen appears. 2. Type in the spelling of 'avance'. As you type, candidates for matching narrow.
