Troubleshooting My phone is not working as expected If you experience problems with your phone, check these tips before you try anything else: • Charge your phone if the battery level gets low. • Use the power key to restart your phone. • Try restarting your phone by removing and reinserting the SIM card. • Force a restart of the phone. Press and hold both the power key and the volume up key for five seconds. After the phone vibrates once, release the keys. The phone restarts automatically. • Update your phone software. Updating your phone ensures optimal performance and provides the latest enhancements. See Updating your phone on page 126 for more information. • Reset your phone. To force restart your phone 1 Press and hold both the volume up key and the power key for five seconds. 2 After your phone vibrates once, release the keys. The phone restarts automatically. To force a phone shutdown 1 Press and hold both the volume up key and the power key for 10 seconds. 2 After your phone vibrates three times, release the keys. The phone turns off automatically. To force close an application • When a popup window tells you that an application is not responding, tap Force close. If you do not want to force stop an application, you can wait for it to respond by tapping Wait. Resetting the phone You can reset your phone to its original settings, with or without deleting all of your personal data. It is possible to reset the phone to the state it was in before you first turned it on. But before you perform a reset, make sure to back up any important data saved on your phone.
