Additional Information Troubleshooting Should any problem persist after you have checked these symptoms, consult your nearest Sony dealer. Power 1) Symptom The rechargeable battery cannot be charged. Cause and/or corrective action  The rechargeable battery is not inserted in the battery compartment. Insert the rechargeable battery ( page 13).  You pressed  (stop) on the remote. During stop, press  STOP/CHG on the CD player. 1)   STOP/CHG is not pressed. Connect the AC power adaptor and press  STOP/CHG. 1)  The CD is playing. Turn it off ( page 16). Sound Symptom The volume does not increase even if you flick the jog lever toward VOL + repeatedly. No sound, or noise is heard. A rustling noise is heard from the CD. SOUND items cannot be set up. Cause and/or corrective action  "AVLS" is set to "ON." Set it to "OFF" ( page 28).  Connect the headphones/earphones plugs firmly.  The plugs are dirty. Clean the headphones/earphones plugs with a dry soft cloth periodically.  Close the lid of the battery compartment firmly ( page 12).  "POWER SAVE" is set to "ON." Set it to "OFF" ( page 29). Operation/Playback Symptom The playing time is too short. The CD does not play. Certain tracks cannot be played. Cause and/or corrective action  Check that you are using an alkaline battery and not a manganese battery.  Replace the dry battery with a new LR6 (size AA) alkaline battery ( page 12).  Charge and discharge the rechargeable battery several times ( page 14). 1)  You tried to play files saved in a format that is not compatible with this player ( page 7).  Change the setting of "CD-EXTRA." You may play your CD ( page 29). 30
