Nero Express combines the top recording capabilities of Nero Burning ROM with a
wizard-like interface that simplifies the disc writing process. Whether you are a novice or
a seasoned rewritable CD and/or DVD user, Nero Express is your total disc writing
solution. It achieves this by incorporating the Nero Burning ROM features and
performance that users love and adding to them an extremely user-friendly interface that
makes every writing procedure easy for novices and more comfortable for professionals.

The incomparable Nero interface makes it easy to make disc copies, create music CDs, etc.

Create an “image file” of your disc and save it to your hard disk. You can then use this image file

Select the desired task category by clicking the appropriate icon.

After selecting the category, click the operation that you would like to perform.

Expand/Collapse button
Click this button to expand/collapse the Nero Express window. By default, the Nero
Express window is collapsed. By expanding the window, you can access to more Nero
Express functions.
Nero Express
The CD and DVD creation command center
Nero StartSmart serves as the central starting point and command center for all your
CD and DVD creation tasks. Simply select the tasks that you want to perform and
Nero StartSmart automatically starts the appropriate applications.

From the Nero StartSmart window, you can select the desired disc creation tasks and
the appropriate applications start automatically.

Disc type
Select the desired type of disc from this drop-down list box.

Categories
Select the desired task category by pointing to the appropriate icon.

Product Center button
Click this button to display the serial number of Nero.

Configuration button
Click this button to configure Nero StartSmart.

Mode button
Click this button to change the Nero StartSmart operation mode. By default,
Nero StartSmart starts in standard mode. The expert mode allows you to select
advanced disc creation tasks. When the expert mode is selected, “Expert Mode”
appears on the lower-right corner of the Nero StartSmart window.

Colors button
Click this button to change the color pattern of Nero StartSmart. You can also
change the color pattern of Nero StartSmart by clicking the configuration button.

Expand/Collapse window
Click this button to expand or collapse the Nero StartSmart window. By default,
Nero StartSmart is collapsed. By expanding the window, you can start Nero
applications directly, or use the Nero toolkit.

To be able to check for version updates and/or perform automatic checks, your computer must be
connected to the Internet.

Copying Discs
You can back up discs that do not use copy-protection technology by copying their
contents onto a blank disc.
Select the [Image, Project, Copy] category, and click [Copy Entire CD] or [Copy Entire DVD].
The following window appears.
Select the source and destination drives, the writing speed, and the number of copies
you want to make. Select [Verify data on disc after burning] to perform data
verification after the copying process is completed, and then click [Copy]. Follow
the instructions on the screen to complete the procedure.
Creating Audio CDs
Select tracks from multiple CDs or your hard disk to create your personal collection.
Select the [Music] category, and click [Audio CD].
The following window appears.
Simply click [Add] and, in the dialog box that appears, select the tracks that you
want to add to your disc. Repeat this operation as many times as necessary, click
[Next], and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the procedure.

Disc Copies and Copyright Laws
Before copying anything onto disc, be sure that you are not violating copyright laws. Most
software companies allow you to make a backup or archive copy of software. Check your
software’s license agreement for details.
