Memory card slot operations Using the memory card slot - introduction Notes on formatting • Formatting erases all information on the "Memory Stick" or PC card, including the protected image data. Check the contents of the "Memory Stick" or PC card before formatting. • Be sure that the battery is fully charged when formatting a "Memory Stick" or PC card. Formatting takes about three minutes maximum. • Do not turn the POWER switch or press any button while the display shows "FORMATTING." • "Memory Stick"s are formatted in the FAT-format for "Memory Stick" equipment that is compatible with DCF standards. This camcorder is not compatible with DCF standards. Format "Memory Stick"s with this camcorder before using. "Memory Stick"s can be used as an external memory device of personal computers in the default format*. However, if you format "Memory Stick"s with your personal computer, check the following: - "Memory Stick"s formatted by Windows OS computers do not have a guaranteed compatibility with this camcorder. If you intend to use them with this camcorder, format them again using this camcorder. - "Memory Stick"s formatted by Macintosh computers may not be used with this camcorder. Be sure not to format them by Macintosh computers. (e.g., Mac OS format, ProDOS format or DOS format) * Adaptor equipment, such as the MSAC-PC2, is required. 97
