Press MENU t select (IN/OUT REC) using V/v t press EXEC. COMPONENT You can select the type of connection when connecting the VCR to a TV with the component input jack. GV-HD700: 480i Select when connecting the VCR to a TV with the component input jack. B 1080i/480i Select when connecting the VCR to a TV that has the component input jack and is capable of displaying the 1080i signal. GV-HD700E: 576i Select when connecting the VCR to a TV with the component input jack. B 1080i/576i Select when connecting the VCR to a TV that has the component input jack and is capable of displaying the 1080i signal. i.LINK CONV You can convert signals in the HDV format to the DV format, and output pictures in the DV format from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface. B OFF Outputs the pictures from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface in accordance with the setting in [HDV/DV SEL]. ON Pictures in the HDV format are converted to the DV format, and pictures in the DV format are output in the DV format. b Notes • For input signal via an i.LINK connection, see [HDV/DV SEL] (p. 55). 56 • Disconnect the i.LINK cable before setting [i.LINK CONV]. Otherwise, the connected video device may not be able to recognize the video signal from the VCR. TV TYPE You need to convert the signal depending on the TV connected when playing back the picture. The recorded pictures output from the VCR are played back as follows. B 16:9 Select to view pictures on a 16:9 (wide) TV. HDV/DV (16:9) format pictures DV (4:3) format pictures 4:3 Select to view pictures on a 4:3 standard TV. HDV/DV (16:9) format pictures DV (4:3) format pictures b Notes • This is not effective when pictures are output from the HDV/DV (i.LINK) interface. • When you connect the VCR to a TV compatible with the ID-1 system for playing back the tape, set [TV TYPE] to [16:9]. The TV automatically switches the aspect ratio according to the playback picture. Refer also to the manual supplied with your TV (GV-HD700). • The aspect ratio of color bars in the DV format is set to the setting of [DV BARS] (p. 59), regardless of the setting of [TV TYPE].
