Installing the earbuds If the earbuds do not fit your ears correctly, the noise canceling effect will not be optimal. To optimize noise canceling and to enjoy better sound quality, change the earbuds to another size, or adjust the earbuds position to fit your ears comfortably and snugly. The M size earbuds are attached to the headphones before shipment. If you feel the M size earbuds do not suit your ears, replace them with the supplied SS, S or L size earbuds. When you change the earbuds, turn to install them firmly on the headphones to prevent the earbud from detaching and remaining in your ear (refer Illustration 1 on "Installing the earbuds"). Note Prolonged use of the earbuds may strain your ears due to their snug fit. If you experience discomfort or pain in your ears, recommend to take a short break. Using the Multifunction button (push button) Press once to answer the call, press again to end; press to play/pause a track. Note The button function may vary depending on the smartphone. Automatic AI Noise Canceling The Automatic AI (Artificial Intelligence) Noise Canceling function constantly analyzes environmental ambient sound components and automatically selects the most effective noise canceling mode. Noise canceling mode types NC Mode A: NC Mode B: NC Mode C: Noise mainly in an airplane is effectively reduced. Noise mainly in a bus or a train is effectively reduced. Noise mainly found in an office environment (PC, copier, air ventilation, etc.) is effectively reduced. Tips •• When the headphones are turned on, NC Mode A is set. •• It may take a few seconds to analyze the environmental ambient sound. Notes on use Notes on the noise canceling function •• The noise canceling circuit actually senses outside noise with built-in microphones and sends an equalbut-opposite canceling signal to the unit. -- Use exclusive earbuds, otherwise noise canceling function will not function properly. -- Be sure the earbuds fit your ears correctly, otherwise noise canceling will not function properly. -- The noise canceling effect may vary depending on how you wear the headphones. -- Do not cover the microphones of the headphones with your hands. The noise canceling function may not work properly. Microphones of headphones -- After you turn on the power of the headphones, you may hear a slight hiss. This is the operating sound of the noise canceling function, not a malfunction. -- The noise canceling function works for noise in the low frequency band primarily. Although noise is reduced, it is not cancelled completely. -- The noise canceling effect may not be pronounced in a very quiet environment, or some noise may be heard. -- When you use the headphones in a train or a car, noise may occur depending on street conditions. -- Mobile phones may cause interference and noise. Should this occur, locate the headphones further away from the mobile phone. Notes on charging the headphones -- Charge the headphones using the supplied micro-USB cable. Otherwise, it may cause a malfunction. -- Charge in an environmental temperature of between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F). Otherwise, the battery may not fully charge. -- If you have not used the headphones for a long time, the life of the rechargeable battery may become short. This will improve when you repeat the charging and discharging process several times. -- Do not store the headphones in hot places for a long time. If storing them for more than a year, charge the battery every six months to prevent excessive discharge. -- For system requirements for a computer that can charge the battery using USB, see "Operating environment". -- If you recharge the headphones by connecting to an AC outlet, use the separately-sold USB AC Adaptor specific in "Recommended accessory (sold separately)". For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the adaptor. -- If the headphones are malfunctioning, charging will not start and the POWER indicator will blink. In this case, disconnect the unit from the connected device, and consult your place of purchase, or a Sony dealer. Notes on using on the airplane Do not use the headphones when use of electronic equipment is prohibited or when use of personal headphones for in-flight entertainment services is prohibited. Notes on handling -- Because the headphones are designed to fit closely in your ears, forcing them against your ears may result in eardrum damage. Avoid using the headphones where they are liable to be struck by people or other objects, such as a ball, etc. -- Pressing the headphones against your ears may produce a diaphragm click sound. This is not a malfunction. -- Clean the headphones with a soft dry cloth. -- Do not leave the plug dirty otherwise the sound may be distorted. -- Do not leave the headphones in a location subject to direct sunlight, heat or moisture. -- Do not subject the headphones to excessive shock. -- Handle the driver units carefully. -- If you feel drowsy or sick while using this headphones, stop use immediately. Notes on headphones High volume may affect your hearing. For traffic safety, do not use while driving or cycling. As headphones reduce outside sounds, they may cause a traffic accident. Also, avoid listening with your headphones in situations where hearing must not be impaired, for example, a railroad crossing, a construction site, etc. Preventing hearing damage Avoid using headphones at high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous, loud and extended play. If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or discontinue use. Notes on static electricity In particularly dry air conditions, noise or sound skipping may occur, or mild tingling may be felt on your ears. This is a result of static electricity accumulated in the body, and not a malfunction of the headphones. The effect can be minimized by wearing clothes made from natural materials. If you have any questions or problems concerning the system that are not covered in this manual, please consult the nearest Sony dealer. Troubleshooting No sound -- Check that the unit and the audio device are connected correctly. -- Check that the connected device is turned on. -- Check that the unit is turned on. -- If the POWER indicator does not light up, charge the battery. -- Turn up the volume of the connected device. -- Reset the unit. Insert a small pin, etc., into the hole, and push the RESET button until you feel a click. RESET Low sound -- Turn up the volume of the connected device. The unit does not turn on -- Charge the battery of the unit. -- Reset the unit. Insert a small pin, etc., into the hole, and push the RESET button until you feel a click. Distorted sound -- Turn down the volume of the connected device. -- Set the equalizer setting of the connected device to off. -- Charge the battery of the unit. The battery cannot be charged -- Turn off the unit. -- Check that the unit and your computer are firmly connected using the micro-USB cable (supplied). -- Check that the computer is turned on and not in standby, sleep or hibernation mode. -- Check that the unit and the computer are directly connected, and not via a USB hub. -- Try the USB connection procedure again in cases other than those stated above. -- The USB port of the connected computer may have a problem. Connect the unit to another USB port of the computer if available. -- A USB AC adaptor that is not recommended is being used. -- The battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator may blink and go off, and charging may not start. This is not a malfunction. -- If the unit is not used for a long time, the charging indicator may take a while to light up red when you connect it to your computer. In this case, do not disconnect the microUSB cable from the unit, and wait until the charging indicator lights up red. Charging time is too long -- Check that the unit and the computer are directly connected, not via a USB hub. -- A cable which is not supplied is used. -- A USB AC adaptor that is not recommended is being used. Noise is generated -- Disconnect the micro USB cable from the unit. -- When connecting an audio device to the analog input jack of the unit, adjust the volume of the connected device, then turn up the volume of the unit. The noise canceling effect is not sufficient -- Change the earbuds to another size that fits your ears. -- Adjust the earbud position to fit your ears comfortably. -- The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, or offices (near air-conditioning, etc.) and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. -- Turn on the headphones. Installation des oreillettes Si les oreillettes ne fixent pas correctement dans vos oreilles, l'effet réducteur de bruits ne sera pas optimal. Pour optimiser la réduction des bruits et pour bénéficier de la meilleure qualité sonore, choisissez une autre taille d'oreillettes ou ajustez la position des oreillettes de façon qu'elles soient correctement et confortablement fixées dans vos oreilles. Au moment de l'expédition, les oreillettes de taille M sont fixées au casque d'écoute. Si vous sentez que les oreillettes de taille M ne correspondent pas à vos oreilles, remplacez-les par les oreillettes fournies de taille SS, S ou L. Quand vous changez les oreillettes, installez-les solidement sur le casque d'écoute pour éviter qu'elles ne se détachent et restent dans vos oreilles (reportez-vous à l'illustration 1 de « Installation des oreillettes »). Remarque L'utilisation prolongée des oreillettes peut fatiguer les oreilles en raison de leur ajustement précis. Si vous ressentez une gêne ou des douleurs dans les oreilles, faites une courte pause. Réduction de bruits par AI automatique La fonction de réduction de bruits par AI (Intelligence artificielle) automatique analyse en permanence les composants de l'environnement sonore et sélectionne automatiquement le mode de réduction de bruits le plus efficace. Types de mode de réduction de bruits Mode RB A : Réduction efficace des bruits généralement retrouvés à bord d'un avion. Mode RB B : Réduction efficace des bruits généralement retrouvés à bord d'un bus ou d'un train. Mode RB C : Réduction efficace des bruits généralement retrouvés dans un environnement de bureau (ordinateur, photocopieur, ventilation, etc.). Conseils •• Lorsque le casque d'écoute est allumé, le Mode RB A est activé. •• L'analyse des composants de l'environnement sonore peut durer quelques secondes. Remarques relatives à l'utilisation Remarques sur la fonction de réduction de bruits •• Le circuit réducteur de bruits détecte réellement le bruit extérieur grâce aux micros intégrés et il envoie un signal de réduction égal mais opposé à l'appareil. -- Utilisez les oreillettes spécialisées, sinon la fonction réducteur des bruits ne fonctionne pas correctement. -- Assurez-vous que les oreillettes correspondent bien à vos oreilles, sinon la réduction des bruits ne fonctionne pas correctement. -- L'effet réduction de bruits peut varier selon la manière dont vous portez le casque d'écoute. -- Ne recouvrez pas les micros du casque d'écoute avec vos mains. La fonction de réduction de bruits peut ne pas fonctionner correctement. Micros du casque d'écoute -- Après avoir mis le casque d'écoute sous tension, il est possible que vous entendiez un léger sifflement. Il s'agit du son de la fonction réduction de bruits et non d'un dysfonctionnement. -- La fonction de réduction de bruits fonctionne principalement pour les bruits qui se situent dans les bandes à basse fréquence. Bien que le bruit soit réduit, il n'est pas complètement supprimé. -- L'effet réduction de bruits peut ne pas être prononcé dans un environnement très silencieux, ou bien certains bruits peuvent être audibles. -- Lorsque vous utilisez le casque d'écoute dans un train ou une voiture, il est possible que vous entendiez du bruit, selon l'état des routes. -- Les téléphones portables peuvent provoquer des interférences et des parasites. Dans ce cas, éloignez davantage le casque d'écoute du téléphone portable. Remarques sur le chargement du casque d'écoute -- Chargez le casque d'écoute à l'aide du micro-câble USB fourni. Dans le cas contraire, un dysfonctionnement risque de se produire. -- Le casque d'écoute doit être chargé dans un environnement dont la température est comprise entre 5°C (41°F) et 35°C (95°F). Dans le cas contraire, le chargement de la batterie pourrait être incomplet. -- Si vous n'avez pas utiliser votre casque d'écoute pendant longtemps, il se peut que la durée de charge de la batterie rechargeable soit courte. Cela s'améliorera après plusieurs cycles de charges et de décharges. -- Le casque d'écoute ne doit pas être rangé dans un endroit trop chaud pendant un long moment. Lorsque le casque d'écoute n'est pas utilisé pendant plus d'un an, la batterie doit être rechargée tous les six mois, pour éviter qu'elle ne se décharge trop. -- Pour la configuration du système requise pour le chargement de la batterie par le port USB d'un ordinateur, consultez « Environnement de fonctionnement ». -- Si vous rechargez le casque d'écoute par une prise secteur, utilisez l'adaptateur secteur USB vendu séparément spécifié dans la section « Accessoire recommandé (vendu séparément) ». Pour plus de détails, consultez le mode d'emploi fourni avec l'adaptateur. -- Si le casque d'écoute ne fonctionne pas correctement, le chargement ne pourra pas commencer et le témoin POWER clignotera. Dans ce cas, déconnectez-le du périphérique auquel il est branché et consultez votre revendeur ou un détaillant Sony. Remarques relatives à l'utilisation en vol N'utilisez pas le casque d'écoute lorsque le fonctionnement d'appareils électroniques est interdit, ou lorsque l'utilisation de casques d'écoute personnels pour les services de divertissement en vol est interdite. Remarques relatives à la manipulation -- Étant donné que le casque d'écoute est conçu pour s'adapter étroitement à vos oreilles, le fait de le forcer contre vos oreilles peut endommager la membrane du tympan. Évitez d'utiliser le casque d'écoute lorsqu'il est susceptible d'être heurté par des personnes ou d'autres objets, tels qu'un ballon, etc.
