Before Using This Device Make sure to read the safety notifications in the Installation Manual supplied with the NSR-500 series Network Surveillance Server before use. Customers should not perform installation of this unit themselves. Contact your Sony dealer. Package Contents Check that the following items are included in this package: ˎˎHDD (1) ˎˎInstallation Manual (this document) (1) ˎˎWarranty booklet (1) ˎˎWarranty sheet (1) ˎˎScrews (4 pcs) Precautions for the HDD device The hard disk drive (HDD) is a precision device. If subject to shock, vibration, static electricity, high temperature, or humidity, the HDD may damage the unit it is installed in, or data may be lost. When installing and using the unit, closely observe the following precautions. ˎˎBefore touching the HDD, touch a metallic object to release any static electricity that your body may be carrying. ˎˎDo not subject the HDD to shocks or vibrations. ˎˎWhen transporting the unit, use the specified packing material. ˎˎDo not disassemble or modify the unit. ˎˎStore and transport the HDD in environments with the proper temperature and humidity levels. Unpacked: 5 °C (41 °F) to 40 °C (104 °F) (no condensation) Packed: -20 °C (-4 °F) to +60 °C (140 °F) (no condensation) ˎˎShould the unit's HDD become damaged (the unit shows signs of malfunction), continue to observe the above precautions. This will prevent further damage from occurring until the problem is properly determined and analyzed. ˎˎThe HDD is a consumable product. When operating at room temperature, a normal replacement cycle will be about two to three years. However, this represents only a general guideline and does not guarantee the life expectancy of the device. For parts replacement, consult your supplier. Installation Procedure 1 Use the HDD cover key supplied with the NSR-500 series to unlock the front cover, and pull off the cover in the direction of the arrow. Turn the key 90 degrees counterclockwise. 2 Remove the HDD lock for the slot in which the HDD will be installed. To remove the HDD lock, push the tabs inward. 3 Remove the tray.
