Troubleshoot testing your set-top box If your set-top box does not appear to be working, then do the following:  Make sure that the power cord for the set-top box is plugged in and that the set-top box is turned on.  Make sure that the remote sensor and IR control cable are correctly connected and that the end of the IR control cable that is affixed to the front of your set-top box blinks when you press a button on the remote.  Make sure that the IR control cable is still firmly affixed to the front of your set-top box. For information about your particular configuration and to make sure that your devices are connected correctly, refer to your hardware documentation.
