HDCAM-SR Workflow Guide - AJA KONA 3 capture card and driver version 7.5 for use with Mac OSX - Double-speed transfer via AJA hardware and AJA software When used alongside properly equipped Sony HDCAM-SR VTRs (such as the Sony SRW-5800), the AJA KONA 3 capture card can be configured to ingest material at double normal speed or "DBL" speed. Double-speed transfer requires the use of the AJA KONA 3 version 7.5 driver (or later) along with the AJA VTR Xchange version 4.1 software (or later). The AJA VTR Xchange software is a free download from the AJA website. The AJA KONA 3 hardware and AJA VTR Xchange software, along with the Sony HDCAM-SR VTR, provide this unique workflow to Mac OSX users. Ingested Quick Time file can be instantly used in Final Cut Pro software.* *Currently, double-speed ingest control is not supported directly via Apple's Final Cut Pro software. AJA KONA 3 driver version 7.5 and AJA VTR Xchange version 4.1 for use with Mac OSX Supported Workflow Double-speed transfer 1080/50p and 1080/60p capture Applicable HDCAM-SR VTR SRW-5800 with HKSR-5803HQ SRW-5100 with HKSR-5103 Double-speed transfer workflow To capture HDCAM-SR material at double-speed: 1. Ensure that the HDCAM-SR VTR is connected to the AJA KONA 3 using a dual-link HD-SDI connection. 2. Set the HDCAM-SR VTR to 422DBL. 3. To properly ingest audio at double transfer speed, select the "Enable DBL Audio Capture" checkbox in the Setup tab of the AJA Control Panel software application. 4. Open the AJA VTR Xchange software application. 5. From within the AJA VTR Xchange application, select "AJA Kona3-DBL" from the Device pulldown in the application's Audio Capture Settings. 6. Select the appropriate video input format/frame rate for the double speed transfer via the VTR Xchange Video Settings pulldown menu. Note that the video source name is appended with the "DBL" designation for double speed transfer. 7. Capture the clip.

To capture HDCAM-SR material at double-speed:
1. Ensure that the HDCAM-SR VTR is connected to the AJA KONA 3 using a dual-link HD-SDI connection.
2. Set the HDCAM-SR VTR to 422DBL.
