STR-DA3600ES/DA4600ES/DA5600ES 4-208-676-11(1) English You can choose the arrangement of sound fields to enhance your listening pleasure based on the speaker installation pattern The Sony AV receiver allows you to enhance surround sound by modifying your speaker installation, as the receiver is compatible with both the usual surround back speaker configuration or a front high configuration. About setting modes of sound fields STANDARD* When you install front speakers, a center speaker, surround speakers, and surround back speakers in a normal configuration, this mode is set. FH* When you install front high speakers instead of surround back speakers, this mode is set. * "STANDARD" and "FH" do not appear on the GUI menu or in the display window of the receiver. (STANDARD*) Plays back surround sound using up to 7 channel speakers (front speakers (L/R), a center speaker (C), surround speakers (SL/SR), and surround back speakers (SBL/SBR)) by reproducing high-quality, reverberant sound which matches the high-quality sound of HD audio, rivalling the sound achieved in a movie theater using DSP technology. Thus you are able to enjoy movies just as you would in a movie theater, in your home. This mode is available with, at a minimum, a 4.0 channel speaker system installation (consisting of L, R, SL and SR speakers). Setting Set "Speaker Pattern" in the Speaker settings menu to "/4." (with surround back speakers), "3/2." (with a center speaker and without surround back speakers), or "2/2." (without a center speaker and surround back speakers). HD-D.C.S. (FH*) Reproduces rich reverberant sound from a high frontal aspect, using the front high speakers. Reproduction of sound effects from high up on the screen is improved and you can hear dialogues or sound effects from the point where you see them on the TV screen by adjusting the speaker positioning. This mode is available with, at a minimum, a 6.0 channel speaker system installation (consisting of L, R, FHL, FHR, SL and SR speakers). Setting Set "Speaker Pattern" in the Speaker settings menu to "5/2." (with a center speaker) or "4/2."
