Using Your VAIO Computer > Using the BLUETOOTH Function n 98 N Using the BLUETOOTH Function You can establish wireless communications between your computer and other BLUETOOTH® devices such as another computer or a mobile phone. You can transfer data between these devices without cables at a range of up to 33 feet / 10 meters in an open area. BLUETOOTH Security The BLUETOOTH wireless technology has an authentication function, which allows you to determine with whom you choose to communicate. With the authentication function, you can prevent any anonymous BLUETOOTH devices from accessing your computer. The first time two BLUETOOTH devices communicate, a common passkey (a password required for authentication) should be determined for both devices to be registered. Once a device is registered, there is no need to re-enter the passkey. ✍ The passkey can be different each time, but must be the same at both ends. For certain devices, such as a mouse, no passkey can be entered.
