Air Filter System 1 Remove the Filter Cleaning Standard Filter 137BA013 KN 137BA008 KN 137BA011 KN 2 ObTenOHPAUT 137BA012 KN Dirty air filters reduce engine power, increase fuel consumption and make starting more difficult. The air filter system can be adapted to suit different operating conditions by simply installing a choice of filters. Standard wire mesh filter (1) (green) for normal operating conditions and winter operation. HD filter (2) (black) for dry and very dusty work areas. Note: STIHL standard and HD filters have a long wear life when used in a dry condition. Therefore, always use and keep STIHL filters dry. 066 • Undo the knob above the rear handle in direction of arrow and remove the carburetor box cover. • Pull off the filter. 145BA028 K When there is a noticeable loss of engine power • Knock the filter out on the palm of your hand or blow it out with compressed air from the inside outward. In case of stubborn dirt or sticky filter fabric: • Wash the filter in a fresh, non-flammable solution (e.g. warm soapy water) and then dry. • Do not impregnate standard wire mesh filter with oil. Always replace a damaged filter element. • Refit the filter. 35
