H. Climate Guard® Air Cleaner Some engines are equipped with an optional Climate Guard Air Cleaner or Climate Guard. See Figures 14 and 15. I. Moving The Inlet Air Scoop For smooth and efficient engine operation, the inlet air scoop must be aimed toward the engine and away from the muffler for proper ambient air temperature to reach the engine. 1. Remove the wing nut from the top of the air cleaner. 2. Lift the cover of the air cleaner. 3. Rotate the scoop to the desired position. 4. Replace the cover. 5. Install and tighten the wing nut. NOTES If the engine is not equipped with a CLIMATE GUARD air cleaner, a CLIMATE GUARD Conversion Kit is available at any Authorized TecumsehPower Servicing Dealer. See Figure 15. If the engine is equipped with a CLIMATE GUARD, no changes need to be made when changing from summer to winter operation. See Figure 14. I. Winter Application In temperatures below 32°F ( 0°C) the inlet air scoop should be pointed directly at the muffler. II. Summer Application In temperatures above 32°F ( 0°C) the inlet air scoop should be pointed toward the blower housing (approximately 45° clockwise from "WINTER" position). 1. Be sure engine is upright and level.	7
2. Unscrew oil fill cap/dipstick from oil filler tube and wipe dipstick clean. See Figure 8.	7
3. Screw oil fill cap/dipstick back into oil filler tube. Tighten securely.	7
4. Unscrew and remove oil fill cap/dipstick from oil filler tube. Note oil level. If oil reading on dipstick is below “ADD” mark, slowly add oil to reach “FULL” level. See Figure 7 on page 4. Afterward, continue reading instructions below.	7
5. Screw oil fill cap/dipstick back into oil filler tube. Tighten securely.	7

1. Stop engine and allow it to cool before refueling.	8

3. Clean area around fuel fill cap and remove fuel fill cap. See Figure 11.	8
4. Using an approved red GASOLINE container, add fuel slowly, being careful to avoid spilling. DO NOT overfill fuel tank. Leave space in the tank to allow fuel to expand without overflowing.	8
5. Replace fuel fill cap securely and wipe up spilled fuel before starting engine. If fuel is spilled DO NOT start engine. Move machine away from area of spillage. Avoid creating any source of ignition until fuel vapors are gone.	8
6. Be sure fuel valve, if present (see equipment manufacturer’s instructions) is open. See Figure 13 on page 7.	8

b. Repeat once. (This will distribute oil throughout the cylinder to prevent corrosion during storage.)	19
c. Proceed to Step 8.	19
6. Push starter button or turn ignition switch key (see equipment manufacturer’s instructions) to cycle the engine for one to two seconds.	19
7. Turn ignition switch key to “OFF” position. Repeat Step 6 and Step 7. (This will distribute oil throughout the cylinder to prevent corrosion during storage.)	19
8. Remove rag covering spark plug hole.	19
9. Install spark plug.	19
10. Carefully disconnect spark plug wire from grounding post, if provided. See Figure 34.	19
11. Connect spark plug wire to spark plug before attempting to start engine. See Figure 35.	19
